    Hi folks,

New here. So just wanted to say hi and thanks for all the great info.

I've done some searching on these here forums and I've found some information on community colleges but I'm still a little unclear.

As I qualify for a study grant, which allows me to get a CDL at a community college free of the hassles that come with either going to a private school (money out of pocket) or a paid training gig (indentured servitude), I'm very keen to pursue this route. I'm just a little concerned that these programs aren't much recognized or known.

The one I'm looking at is over at Walla Walla CC in WA. Commercial Truck Driving | Walla Walla Community College

My question: How are Community College CDLs generally regarded by employers?

New to this field, I really don't know, so I'd very much appreciate your input.

As long as you get the 160 hour minimum the companies could care less. Good luck on your journey. Make sure youre ready to go to work though. Some companies have a time limit on hiring graduates. Keep us posted

Community college cdl programs are highly regarded in the trucking industry, mainly because they're usually accredited and some specialized companies require that, such as some hazmat tanker companies.
The key to making it successful for you, is to choose a good company to work for at graduation.
As long as the course is 160 hrs. is the main thing to look at plus get all the endorsements before graduation.

That's true. A few companies want graduates from "accredited" cdl schools, but most don't really care as long as it's 160 hrs.
