Hey I pay for load boards and somedays it feels all I do is talk to brokers.
spyder7723, rollin coal and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Yes I do, what of it? I still help find loads for the old truck I drove because the owner is a good friend and has other obligations he has to take care of, so I help him out. But I can tell from your attitude that you wouldn't understand that concept. Some of us out here are still not self absorbed pricks and help each other out where we can. Not only that but talking to the brokers keeps my contacts fresh, a smart move to help insure my future, if you ask me. And actually I'm paid up for the year on my boards except for dat, that's the. only one I'm paying onbulldawg trucker and Lepton1 Thank this.

Yep I understand the concept. I booked a $5,000 load from Nashville to Orlando a couple of weeks ago and gave it to a buddy. I have recovered loads when friends broke down. The last one I drove 350 miles empty to recover. I have had the same help given to me in return when I needed it. So I know a little something about putting my money where my mouth is.

Maybe I'm missing something I haven't read all the posts here but, what is the reason you subscribe to several load boards if your doing a LP at freymiller?

Thanks, finally someone that makes a constructive comment. Really I doubt this company is driving your rates down to much because they run mostly dedicated customers they have contracts with and at the risk of starting the whole "how much the company makes off me" argument again, they get pretty good rates from those customers. Just for the record also, this is not a mega company as most of the real drivers know, we have around 400 trucks on the road. My making a dollar a mile has no effect on rates because that's what the company pays me, not what the customer pays the company. Remember, this company runs full o/o spec'd trucks, aside from the regional which are 10 decked out cascadia evolutions, the rest of the company fleet are peterbilt 579's, kw 680 and 660's all have the large single or double bunk sleepers with the big beds, full instrument clusters etc. They don't run these trucks on cheap freight. That's not to say they don't take an occasional broker load cheap to geta truck out of an area, but that's not very often. Also don't make the mistake thinking in two years when this truck is mine that I'm hauling cheap fright either, if I stay here I'll buy a trailer and go on the board picking what I want to make or if I leave I'll put a pump on here, delete the dpf, turn the truck up, spend the ten grand for a vacuum pump, buy a 130 bbl trailer and haul on the oil fields for $110 or more an hour. Everyone seems to think I'm new at this, I'm not. I have the contacts to go to the oil fields tomorrow if I want or I have the contacts to go independent ei
with a reefer or a dry van if I want or I can stay where I am and go on percentage. This lease is just a means to an end, that's all. It's not my life's career. Three are guys here that lease a truck till the end and trade it in and do another over and over, that's definitely not my plan. Like I keep saying, I make a pretty decent living, around 5 or 6 k a month on average take home and I have my costs covered or am well on my way to having them covered and I have a plan of sorts for the future, that is except deciding on which path I chose to take.bulldawg trucker Thanks this. -
I just answered that above. I don't pay for all, I have 3 that are paid for the year, 2 our 3 that are free and I'm paying for dat. The ones I have paid for the year, I will drop when they expire because one of them is useless and the other two are just dumbed down crippled versions of the dat board. I'll keep dat, the free one for hopper and dry bulk and probably the other free general freight board I have because one of my brokers uses that one the most. I don't ever really use the rest for that one truck often enough to justify it any more.

Ok not starting anything, just don't understand why you would have any load boards if your doing a LP with freymiller still don't because you didn't say what you need them for .Does freymiller let you pick loads from outside brokers .Im confused even about the broker your referring to if this is someone you say you talk to why subscribe to a load board he posts on why not just ask him what loads he has
-
How do you have a board subscription without an MC number?
Tired, spyder7723 and Pepper24 Thank this. -
I'm not using the boards for my truck, I'm using them to help out a friend with his truck and it's on his number, I pay for it and use it to help find loads for his truck. I'll change everything when this truck is paid off and under my authority, or when I change over to running my own authority under the lease if I decide to go that route. Probably I won't do that though because the pay isn't good enough the last I checked to do the lease and run my own authority since they changed that part of the program. The only real plus to doing that would be to get my name on the title.
