Same here, money is good where I am leased at, no games either, all straight shooting, including come IFTA time. But, when the ELD mandate kicks in, I may just have to turn the authority back on. Right now, looking at a 30% pay cut. I rarely go anywhere, 150 mile radius if that, but the hours are all over the map in the 4 to 5 days a week I work. We shall see... ;-)

Sounds like reality to me, but I am leased to a company, a little better in the per mile rate net on my end, I don't work that much either, by choice... But, I'm in the same miserable boat as you... Everything is paid for, no mortgage, and yes I have a house, a nice house. Kids gone, none in college, no credit cards, $350 monthly Chevy pick up lease... Single... Cell phone, cable, and the truck is paid for. 52 yo, 28 years in this racket, authority is parked.

The beauty is, when I want time off, I take time off. I want to sleep in, I sleep in. I want to have a few beers, I have a few beers. Not interested in women, 9 grandkids and divorced. Been there and done that. And yes, I still like women. ;-)

Honestly, other than the truck, everything is pretty good. Knock on wood. Because if you have lived, you know what I mean. I have been very blessed, and thank God daily for what I have.

This is not a racket for the timid or weak, and you need to have knowledge, mechanical knowledge. If you rely on shops and warranties to keep your truck rolling, you may as well head to Subway and put in your application, because that is your future. Trust me on that. ;-)
