I'm not always happy. It varies per settlement. But I'll be over 65k, and maybe 80k for the year.
Settlement net, before per diem deduction. I've had $700 checks and I've had $3000 checks. This week was 1300 and not happy. Next week is probably going to be around 2k.catdog45 Thanks this. -
When I leased I bounced between 90k and 100k a year pre tax. Now I am a company driver on salary just north of 100k.
I honestly miss leasing even though I make a little more now. Salary is nice, but I don’t have the freedom I had leasing. I am home less now than I used to be. -
I noticed I had this old tab still on my phone so it brought back a couple memories.
I am now happily retired in the Philippines for slightly over one year. I was very fortunate with my lease. I hammered the company for an early buyout price. They gave me a price to buy out the lease and own the truck 13 months early that was $20,000+ less than the weekly payments. I took it in a heartbeat.
I had gone from a nearly homeless broke dck to over 60k in the bank and over 20k in debts paid off.
I wired the money over to the company and had the title within two weeks. Ran a couple more loads and since truck prices were starting their downward trend, I sold it at near high point wholesale. I had three dealers "bidding" on it. The truck had over 500k miles on it and was nearing the end of the 600k miles Freightliner extra warranty.
When it was all said and done, I had $110k in the bank. I filed for Social Security retirement and my Belgian Malinois road dog and I flew to the Philippines to start our next adventure.
It wasn't easy. I worked my ### off. But I was with a good company. It only took me 5 years from start to finish, training for CDL, to owning outright and selling a very well taken care of truck, having no debt, and stacking up some cash and making it to retirement in a place I like and know my Social Security will provide well for me.
Good luck fellow drivers. Stay safe.lynchy, Crazytrucker77, The Road Gnome and 2 others Thank this. -
I hope your happy in your retirement, but living in the Phillipines must be cheap. S.S. and $110k doesn't go far in the States.
I'm retired too, maybe my wife and I should look into moving.
E joy.catdog45 Thanks this. -
