Got 2 steers one time, cant remember brand name tho... Sounded well on paper! Weird wear on both tires, truck was fine, new chocks, fresh alignement. Trailers I run all have chinese tires. Some seem to hold very good, some are crap from the begining. I hear from alot of people that they are hit or miss. I guess they dont have the same standards for quality test.
Oh and I forgot to say, just like rolling coal sayd, price difference aint that big of a deal. Spend that 100$ more to get reputable tires, at least you know what to expect.
Many American tires are made in China. There's really no difference. They are made the exact way we make them here. Rubber is rubber! If the tires were inferior they would not be allowed in the U.S. Same thing with recaps. I've been running recaps on my trailer for the first time. Paid $160 per tire out the door at Terry's Tire Town in Ohio. They are ready to be replaced now. Got 100,000 out of them just like a full priced virgin. I pull a spread flatbed. Paid $1,280 for 8. Sure beats $3,000 Going to do it again, and again and again
I purchased 8 trailer tires in '10 & they now have about 350,000 mileson them. Still round and still holding air. It's a backup trailer, now that I purchased a new one.
Yeah there is a difference Skateboard, it's called quality control. Some companies have it and it seems Chinese ones don't. When you put a tire on a spin balance machine and it's lopsided that's an inferior product Doesn't mean you can't run it just means it'll rattle your teeth and it's inferior. I'd like to see one of these American tires made in China. Tires have a stamp on the sidewall where they are made. My Yoko's came from Thailand. I understand though why guys would run Chinese or other cheaper tires on a spread axle.
Yes, you are correct there with quality control. I don't remember who made my steer tires. Maybe Firestone? Can't remember. I was at the Petro in Fargo. They could not find a single tire that would balance. All were out of round.
My old man ran them on his tridem pole trailer and yep they were oval. Not that it mattered. Truck spent most of its time in the bush and the trailer had no suspension apart from solid mount walking beams so it wasn't a big deal.
