Got a out of service today for the first time in my 7 years of driving. Did my pre-trip this morning then shortly after pulled into scale. Got level one and trailer light wasn't working. ( was told thats why i was being put outbof service.) Well barely working. Went to put in spare after inspection and it started working again, I guess loose connection. Also had a missing placard on the front of trailer. It hung on for nearly 3,000 miles and decided to go missing. Don't know how I missed that during p.t. Also my fire extinguisher pin came loose and it discharged a little so it was just under full.
Anyways how bad is it? Just in November/December I got a clean level one and clean inspection on myself and equipment on two different occasions.
I'm leased on but my safety guy said we'll get through this.
How hard would it be to get another job leased on if I do get terminated. Especially pulling tanker because I enjoy it at the moment.
Also the trailer is the companies and truck is mine.
Last but not least would this affect my ability to get into Canada since they take matters more serious?

    Rideandrepair and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

With all due respect, everything you mentioned could been taking care off on your pre trip or/and preventive maintenance. Not getting into every detail. I’ve have spoken.

I don't think they would put you put of service for a inoperable light, that is just a write up. Although I could be wrong
I would bet it was for the missing placard.

All u can do is move on and do better next time . It will go against your company safety score and will be on your psp report. If you go to find another job they will see you have oos on your psp but alot of things can be explained away.

I wouldn't worry about it if the boss man says you're ok and just move forward and learn from your mistakes . It happens to the best of us

All you can do is be better next time. Dwell just enough to make yourself more diligent, but don’t get all worked up and let it overwhelm you. My guess is that your company values you because you do actually care. Time to move on down the road.

I don't see how any of those are oos.

I used to see trucks roll through scales all the time with bad or no lights.

Yes, required lighting. Same thing happened to me. Rear light. Wiggled wire, back in service.

The lighting is one thing but how in the hell does a fire extinguisher pin come loose and just discharge a little?

I’m not buying that, they don’t discharge a little.

sorry I have to add this, why are you missing a placard and why was it on for 3000 miles?

you take a load 3000 miles?

Too much stuff in side gear box pushed up against pin and pushed it out. I took a load 2,171 miles away. To Arizona. Then deadhead to Houston TX to wash trailer.
