He let me go after fixing the light that was the only OOS item and all were written up as warnings which I don't get. How can it be a warning and OOS?
Next load was in Houston. That's usually how it worked anytime out west. If in California I'd wash there if loading, if not I'd deadhead a long ways and wash out close to where I'm loading.
And to be honest I bought the fire extinguisher it wouldn't fit in the old mount as it was bigger. So I intended at some point to change the mounts. But tomorrow hopefully I'm getting a big gear/step box installed which will really help.
I got the fire warning also. Along with marker light. I can understand it needs to be there. But needing it secured seems a bit overkill.
Mine is still in the box. I have been inspected several times and no one has said a word about it. Not saying I don’t believe you, just shedding light on officer discretion. And pet projects.
I use clear plastic sheets on top of the placard to keep them in the holder. The wind can pull those real flimsy placards out of the holder going down the road. I use them on every Hazmat load. I found some 12'x12'nsheets and cut them to the 10.75 squares but you can get them online too. https://www.amazon.com/Placard-Poly...act-Resistant-UV-Resistant/dp/B0D2Y442VF?th=1
I had a fire extinguisher discharge a little. The pin popped up/out. I had to buy a near extinguisher. Placards buy the ones that have flippers built in? What if your running 2 or 3 placards for the load? I normally tape my placards edges in the holders to stop air from getting under the placard. Clear shipping tape. There is clear gorrilla tape too. After 1000 miles they still blow off/tear some times. But not too often with tape. Normally driving the rain for hours defeats the tape. I get clear plastic squares and cover the placard, which helps. Put holes in them and zip tie them to the grill.
