Nobody is going to wait 10 years to get a $1 raise. Modern jobs punish people who stay and pay more to new employees. In fact, several times after quitting hes gone back to old jobs that offered him more than he was making there before.

Nobody's offering $1 raise to 10 year veterans.

Well...new employees get paid more because of the timing of when they got on. I don't know if your friend is hourly or gets paid cpm. If employee A got hired in 2022 at 58 cpm, stays, for 2 years, you'll probably see employee B get paid 60 cpm after being hired in 2024. Now if your friend is quitting over 2 cpm, that seems a bit crazy because that's not really a game changing increase.

Maybe if you wouldn't job hop every 30 days you wouldn't have to keep peeing in cups.

I'm only making a penny a mile more than I was during inflation, but I'm making over 3000miles a week consistently. I'm sticking it out for now.

Trucking is not for you, that is obvious. I'm on my 3rd job in 7 years of driving, and that's only because I was shot at my 2nd job.

Nobody is talking about waiting 10 years on a dollar raise. You can't even know where you're at money wise until at least 6 months into a job.

How bad is it? I know you said you were young so try this. Pretend to have empathy. Look it up. Imagine you are the boss. Would you hire you? I wouldn’t. Why should I waste my time filling out paperwork, training you, etc if you are just going to quit on me in 3-6 months? And that flex thing? I’d do that in a minute. So you had to deliver some donuts. Big woop! It was your perfect job. Something new all the time but staying at the same company. It’s exactly what you do now except you piss everyone off by coming and going. This is also why employers have no loyalty because of employees like you that burn them.

Buy yourself a mirror and look into it.

Well then read back. I'm tired of talking about it.

To make a long story short, one night I arrived at our drop yard and went on foot with my dog to find the trailer I would be grabbing the next morning. In the process, I ran into a guy who attempted to rob me for drug money and after realizing I was a truck driver so I had no money, shot me 6 times point blank. I have 11 bullet holes in me in total as some were graze wounds, some were thru-and-thru for multiple areas. My left arm is held together with steel plates as he blew my arm in half.

One of our mechanics was the roommate of one of the first cops to respond to the shooting and so I later found out the guy was high on PCP and bath salts.

I was a company schmuck for a specialized carrier with 4500 trucks in 2007. Hadn’t been in a truck for 7 years. Got started out at $.44/mile. Hot loads paid double, or $.88/mile. Sign me up!

Got up into RedmondWA and realized company drivers got paid an extra $300 every time one crossed into Canada. I would run Genie man lifts to various United Rentals spots in Vancouver. It was an easy extra $1200-1500 or more a week. Sign me up!

Got to run structural steel on a gig for ConocoPhillips in northern Alberta. They were paying construction workers $80-200/hr. The money for a driver was STUPID. The money for an owner Op was OBSCENE. Had to buy a truck because I always wanted to be obscene. Thing is, if you came off that job, you couldn’t get back on.

@Chinatown is always talking about accessory pay on certain jobs. There will be ways to make really good money that no one at the company will tell you about. When Trudeau pissed off ConocoPhillips, the money dried up, and I headed south. Realized that the OSOW loads that paid the best were the stretch loads or overheight.

A lowdown dispatcher would try to get you to drop a stretch trailer and grab a flat or a step, but then suddenly, one of the favorites kneepad wearers would swoop in and grab the trailer you just dropped. There were loads that went 5 miles in the Houston area, super loads, that paid $2500. They weren’t there all the time, but they were there. The loads that were there all the time, were RGN loads going from Galveston to Houston for $2000. 45 miles loaded. Sign. Me. Up.

Is he a truck driver or what industry does he work in? Does he usually take time off between jobs? I guess him and I are kindred spirits. filing taxes can be difficult lol
