    Well the "big three" would be scheider, jb hunt and probably swift. Each with probably more than 8000 trucks. I work for FFE which I guess would be a medium size company but I might be wrong on that. I prefer a bigger company myself, I don't need a company to know me as a name rather than a number. Keep me rolling and get me home when I want it, and I'm happy

    Examples of for-hire carriers in 2008:

    UPS 18,470 company tractors.

    FedEx Corp 15,000 company tractors; 22,000 owner-operator tractors, vans and straight trucks.

    Frozen Food Express 1,629 company tractors; 400 owner-operator tractors.

    Roehl Transport 1,630 company tractors; 125 owner-operator tractors.



    Examples of private carriers in 2008:

    Coca-Cola Enterprises 7,900 tractors.

    Wal-Mart Stores 6,751 tractors

    Air Products 600 tractors

    Ace Hardware 447 tractors

    Sherwin-Williams 350 tractors

    Most are. Walmart for example has a huge waiting list. Plus the are extremely picky about who they hire.

    Most definitely they are picky, but then they do have a long standing rep to live up to. Just try getting in with ashley or walmart without having a near spotless record and mucho years under your wheels that are current. It won't happen. But for me I could NEVER NEVER EVER go back to WILLINGLY being a slave for a large or even medium sized trucking company. Been there done that and did not enjoy what went on:biggrin_25513:
