Back when I was hauling cattle and would be real tired I’d dump the back axle on the trailer to turn a corner and be down the road a few miles before I noticed the switch was still lit up. It only dumped 50% so the tires were still on the ground, but I’m sure it was still hard on stuff. And that happened a lot. Because I was tired a lot.

Don't beat yourself up to bad...We all have had major brain farts along the way. When I first started pulling tanker many years ago, I forgot to unhook my jackshaft (pto) after pumping off a load of fuel, until just after I made a turn. I never ever did that again and I would guess that you won't either!!

As others have mentioned. It’s the learning part that matters
If you learned nothing and continue to do it then you deserve being in the idiot camp
If you did learn, which I believe is the case since you brought it here then you’re not in that camp
Learn from it and move in. Also this experience will probably make you check twice on other non related things moving forward

I'd say you got your retraining.

Company truck. It really is a goat trail. Hell the public road to get to this logging road is a goat trail.

Last year I had to unhook to get towed. Driver asked if I was all good. (We had to reposition tractor so he could get properly attached.) I said yes. He pulled and I heard something. I forgot to disconnect my brand new airlines. The nice expensive rubber 3/1 set. Had to buy another. My truck my money. Never made this silly mistake even as a rookie company driver.

    Stuff happens.
