Why would you want to be so close to something that big?I give truckers all the room they want. There's been pictures of tractor trailers all over the news lieing down on their sides from icy weather and mishaps along the road. There's no disrespect in keeping your distance. I'm still trying to figure out how you all drive something that big and stay on the road.:Red car::biggrin_2556:

If 4-wheelers want to help us out... don't get on the road it's that simple. Stay out of our way because driving is our job and our families at home depend on us out there driving a lot of miles and when some moron slows us down its just slowly taking money out of our check. If we get slowed down for say a total of 1 hour a day multiply that by say 6 days. Now in that 6 hours if we could have kept a steady 70 mph that is 420 miles we lost because some moron in a car. 420 miles at say .35 cents per mile is a loss of 147.00 in a single week because of 4-wheelers slowing us down on a hill or not letting us pass that 90 year old cripple in front of us that needs to sit on a pillow because he can't see over the dash and his hemorrhoid cream isn't working. People don't realize this about drivers. Your ignorant "I'm god" type ways is taking food out of not only my stomach but my children/wife's mouth also or hell even make us have to push off a bill for a week. But your fine you know why? Because you live the same boring mundane life of working the same 9-5 job and regardless your pay is the same.

So please..... STAY OUT OF THE WAY

Wow... do you have the same wonderful feelings about your fellow truckers who are governed at less than 70 mph?

Not at all. Cars are not governed they can help it. Us real drivers can not always help what our company sets our rigs at. I just really can not stand 4-wheelers that think they own the road and we are just in the way. It is very much the other way around.

Please just be aware that not all people behind the wheel of a big truck are what you refer to as "real drivers". Some truckers are idiots, too... and it grinds my gears just a wee bit when someone places one group of drivers above another. Trust me when I say there are enough idiots to go around... and you find them piloting every type of transportation out there.

I agree more so then not they are behind the wheel of a 4 wheeler. Some drivers are idiots but most of us spend our lives on the road. 90% of 4 wheelers go from point A to point B which is much less of a distance then we drive on a daily basis. We know how to run the roads and keep #### rolling our pay is determined by us staying rolling so we all pretty much help each other out and know how the system works. 4 wheelers are in it for themselves and screw everyone else as long as they get to point B they succeeded.

What an arrogant ###! You sound like one of the truck drivers that give em all a bad name.

Texas has the "move over law" and while Im on the side of the road working an accident I see just as many 18 wheelers stay in the lane that needs to be vacated as I do 4 wheelers. Since I have been towing for about a year, I know of several tow operators that have been hit by a car or truck while working on the side of the road and either killed or seriously injured.

I see many 18 wheelers running the left lane even though there are signs stating No Trucks Left Lane for XX Miles.

Trucking aint like it was 30 years ago when truckers had the reputation of being courteous and professional. I dont want to stereotype but it seems that nowadays it's get the hell outta my way so I can get that extra $2 on my paycheck.

Everyone who drives out there takes a risk getting from point A to B whether it be a trucker or a owner of a four wheeled vehicle. Get off your high horse and look around at the real people and the situation. Nothing irks me more than a man who sets himself up so high that he can't see everyone so close.Where have you been riding?Have you been up there in your high and almighty perch?Take a ride in that motorized horse and look around a little bit more.God has final judgement and fate for the nonbelievers and there is no other way about it. Thanks to you we have something to talk about and aren't you so precious today?Bless your heart as you drive along amongst the peons of the four wheeled world. :biggrin_25513:

The CB is not only OK for truckers, it is OK for you too. And for me.
Answer your cellular call and put it on speaker. Others may not agree.

    Bad activities:

    • texting or making notes
    • writing with pen and paper
    • dialing phone numbers
    • using the internet phone (with the mouse button)
    • using the phone's camera
    • reading the paper
    • reading a map
    • reading a book
    • working with makeup
    • shaving
    • turning around and yelling at the children.
    • programming a GPS
    • keying a laptop or data keyboard
    • watching a TV set or video device
    • operating a ship radar set in a pickup truck (seen it)
Those products were not designed to be used safely while driving. Those who do those activities are not only annoying to everyone else but negligent of safety.

    Good activities:

    • use a CB radio
    • use a ham radio
    • use a 2-way business radio
    • use a car stereo
    • use a hands free phone to answer calls
    • use a phone with a headset or speaker-mike to answer calls
Those products were designed to be used safely while driving when used according to their instructions, or, at least have not been outlawed by the nanny state yet.

A cellphone with no hands-free function must be held in an uncomfortable position for a long time while on a call creating fatigue and switching hands, and a mike usually is put down after a moment.

A microphone on a radio set is designed to be held in such a way that the arm and hand holding it do not block the operator's view to the side or front as with a hand-held cellphone.

A mobile-type microphone is ergonomically designed for safe vehicular use and has been developed over the last 80 years for the purpose.

All these activities can be safely done if done at the right place. There are rest stops every so many miles if you choose to use them and if the behavior is that important pulling over to the side of the road is not an issue. However,I do have a problem with the person using any type of device that hinders and slows down traffic.Whether you are using a CB radio, cellphone or other device the use of these takes time off the task and deters other people from getting where they are going.Sitting at a green light and waiting for someone to finish talking is not my idea of transportation when it comes to CB's or cellphones either one.I've seen truckers driving along the highway thinking its social hour and CBing to anyone they can reach. It may be a lonely road, but thats the road you travel by choice.
