yea, they definately charge a lot more, but if you can qualify for a grant, take it. The government takes so much money from you, why not get some of it back?

You seem to be more ready to not try and look for help than to accept it. Why would you say you want to pay out of pocket when there are tons of ways to get assistance from the state , the federal government and private educational funding entities...some grants/loans you can get are even free....Try googling community colleges in the western New York Area....I did...took me all of 30 seconds...you'll be surprised at the help available , if you just take the time to try....

I don't want to hijack this thread too much more with my situation, I have looked and the community college close to me does not offer CDL training. the nearest community college that does offer CDL training is not cost effective for me. I don't mind paying out of pocket its just going to be a bit of a financial hassle to do so. I make too much to qualify for grants, besides grands and federal loans as I've said do not apply to the school im looking at.

I'm currently employed full time and can't travel all over for school. I'm looking to do part time training with a place near by that I can do after work and on weekends.

I know theres help available, its just a matter of how far I would have to go to get it. I don't mind paying out of pocket really. Just was saying I (and maybe others) need to get creative to make it happen.

It's not the best option, but some companies have truck driving schools they will put you through for free if you agree to sign on with them for a certain length of time. At least in the United States there are. You could try a personal loan at the bank, borrowing money from family, or go and ask the school if they offer some sort of tuition payment plan. I went to a fairly small school in Buffalo, NY but they still allowed me to pay out the cost of the school over the length of the course. Even if the school doesn't offer any sort of payment plan, they may know of additional options that will help you.

    Thanks
