ECM = Electronic Control Module
You'd need to plug the truck into a laptop that has Detroit Diesel's diagnostic program. It'll read the engine's ECM. That would tell you what the HP/Torque is set to, your speed governor etc.
Because you seem a little confused, I'll try and clarify. ECM is a generic term for any computer module. Your truck likely has several of them. You kind of need to look at the context of what's being spoken about. The typical truck these days will have an engine ECM, a transmission ECM (if automatic), a body controller (controls the gauges, switches, lights etc) as well as ABS/TC/RSC control modules. Probably a few others that I'm missing too. Each ECM is responsible for controlling their specific component.D.Tibbitt, QUALITYTRUCK, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Have a Freightlinershaker plug into it. It can be turned up or down.
I mean you can't do that as a company driver, but they'll tell you what it's set at.D.Tibbitt and expedite_it Thank this. -
