u WILL NOT make any money with jb hunt as an o/o. they charge u for everything; qualcomm, occupational accident insurance (which by their home state law is not required since the owner is driving his/her own truck; which is another way for jb to rip u off), fuel discounts aren't much, fuel surcharge is a joke, parts/maintenance is almost reasonable, if u get 1800 miles a week ur doing good. most of their freight goes on the train

That truck should be well under 20,000#. Especially with the detroit motor.... heck, my Star weighs in at 19,500# with a big old kitty under the hood.

I can't comment on the JB being good or not as I've never worked for them, but in my opinion, any company that has a weight requirement (besides a tanker outfit) is not worth working for. it means they want to be able to put 46-47k on the trailer, and that is no good for a truck or your fuel mileage. As you will soon learn as a newbie, your fuel cost is the most major expense you will incur. The less you use, the more you make obviously LOL

My truck was weighed at the factory and the paper work was in the file when I got the truck. I wonder If the manufacturer has a record of it.

MY 07 Century with a 00 Great Dane Dry van with wood liner is 33,000 empty with 5/8 tank of fuel.

    DDS60, 13spd and 275/22.5 LP tires. 230" wheelbase and 3/4 skirt.

That should give you a clue.

You'd be hard pressed to find a Century that will go over that for weight.

my pete weighs 16,500, the frieghtliner im looking at weighs only 15400. If your serious about buying truck the seller should be able to provide you with a scale ticket. Make sure you have them scale it with a full tank of fuel since that will add weight. If you want empty weight just subtract 8 pounds per gallon the tanks hold.

Also depending on where the truck is from if not new you may get a Canadian model which have double rails in frame in certain applications.. heasvy duty means heavier

    Diesel doesn't weight that much...

most trucks are under 20k lbs. bobtail...That being said, unless you weight it, you won't know. If you are unsure and buy the truck, then can't use it for work, then you will be out that money and a job. just weight it and be done.

I had a buddy that swore a Freightliner Classic and a tank would weigh less than a Cascadia and dry van. I weighed it, and it was 4,000lbs. more.
