In your situation it would be best to appear in person at local companies to have the best chance to explain your situation.

There is a sales technique. If you are turned away once or twice, don't give up. It highlights your persistence, your work ethic and your dedication.

You just need refresher course. For a refresher course, try Schneider, Paschall Truck Lines, Western Express.

 

Move to Las Vegas, NV
Plenty of good trucking jobs there and a small Chinatown also.
Some rich Chinese from mainland China are investing over a billion dollars in new casino/resort business there in the near future.
Watkins & Shepard has a terminal in Las Vegas and is a good trucking company.

Andrus Transportation
and others with terminals or drop yards there.

There is no personal income tax in Nevada plus good weather all year. Your girlfriend can find work there easily. One of the new casinos being built will need Mandarin language speakers.
