I had an accident with Werner while still in training. Now I can't get back on road from lack of experience.I can't get any experience because I can't get hired to get back on the road.Does anybody have any advice it would really be appreciated. Are there any companies that will work with someone like me.I don't have any criminal history I also have TWIC card from doing security.

Having an accident while in training is like the kiss of death. I really don't know what else you can do other than try to get in with a training company. That accident is gonna haunt you.

unfortunately accidents do happen and when it happens to a newbie in training it can be disastrous...

however, what you can try to do is go back to school (if you went to a trucking school) and get re-trained...first ask how much that'll cost you..

now, if you did not go to trucking school but werners COMPLETE training, meaning classroom, road, then you will have to keep applying at various trucking companies...

another option WOULD be go to a driving school, find out how much a "short course" of say less than 200 hours will cost you, then attend that school.....

as we do not know why you had an accident, maybe the school can correct the situation you were in, over what the werner trainer failed to do.

I got my CDL from a community college in Salt Lake City.I met an older truck driver that told me the certificate I got should count as six months experience. Is that true? The accident happened while crossing lanes the trailer bumped this ladies car.She was not hurt but her car was pretty much totalled.

then go back for re-training, to show another prospective employer you wanted to correct any mistakes and make yourself a better student.

NO...."some companies", may consider the schooling as no more than 1 month, as when you add up ALL your road time, believe me, you ain't even got THAT MUCH time behind the wheel....

for a real answer you would have to ask the trucking company recruiter/safety dept, not some trucker......

lane changing accidents are high on the list for preventables....which you had...meaning you did an improper lane change.

maybe not enough checking of your mirrors, maybe a slow lane change which allowed the car to creep up on you, maybe your depth perception, whatever....it IS a preventable you had.....and preventables are a big NO-NO.....and since her car had to be towed away from the scene, you definitely got hit with that preventable....(anytime a wrecker is called out, it is considered a preventable, with just about any trucking company)

you NEED to go back to school and work out the details for re-training....

this goes a LONG way in your chances of getting another job, that you took responsibility for your actions and wanted to make corrections...

you should do fine, let us know how you make out with this.

That's going to be a tough one! Any accident on your record is bad let alone an experienced driver with that record. Try going to the smaller companies. Their insurance is a little more forgiving. Good luck to you!

I had this exact thing happen to me, a preventable while in training. It took awhile (over a year of looking) before I found a start up company willing to give me a shot.
