I think you’re missing the point. What will you be able to offer that they can’t do themselves? Without direct customers you’re basically charging someone for finding them loads on a load board.

What will you do? If you get some suckers to pay you for finding them load board freight them just start a business. If you will actually be a broker providing a service with direct customers you will need broker authority.

I want to start by finding loads off the boards and then transition into brokering.

No one in their right mind is going to pay you to find them loads off boards that they can do themselves without having to pay you. You will have to get direct customers.

You just need paperwork saying you can act on behalf of the company that has hired you. Power of attorney I believe. You could get some insurance but I’m not aware of anything you have to have as long as they have their own authority and insurance. Now, if they don’t you’ll have to sign them onto your company.

Um..don't think anyone is going to pay you to file taxes or book keep. You're not a cpa.

Why would you need broker authority to act as a dispatcher ?
He said the owner ops would be his customer AND they would pay him so that would indicate he would not be collecting $ from the shipper or receiver.
