Most people run irregular freight and/or semi-regular. You also drive a exempt truck and are on paper logs? Even in the best of scenarios stuff happens. But your ability to take unscheduled naps in no way, shape or form compares to someone taking unscheduled naps on EOBR am I correct?
How come I never see any trucks with OOIDA decals anymore?

My point is that there are options available where you won't lose revenue due to shipper, receiver, or any other delays for that matter.
Everyone should set a minimum daily rate. If the load can be completed in a 14 hour period, then the shipper is charged for one day. If the load takes 15-28 hours, you charge 2 days. That way the shippers and receivers can worry about whether it's more cost effective for them to become more efficient, or just pay more to the truck to cover for their inefficiencies. -
The contracts that I have make this unnecessary. If I lose 8-10 hours due to any sort of delay, I still get paid for another full day to complete the load. Those are the companies that you want to contract with.06driver Thanks this. -
Out here in my world I work on simple flat rates where stuff happens. I've had to give up loads when I was going to be as little as 30 minutes or an hour short of making a pickup on the follow up reload. Wide awake, well rested and safe - actually ready to move out, just not compliant so couldn't. That costs me money and some self righteous person like tucker says that's good enough that the rules are needed to keep me in line? When we all know people are actively working to get some flexibility added into the current reg to change it so stupidity like that doesn't happen.Hulld, Highway Sailor, kwswan and 1 other person Thank this. -

Actually I would put OOIDA stickers back on my truck I just dont care for putting stickers like that directly on the paint. It wont fit on the chrome plate for stickers now and I'm not going to get a bigger one of those just for an OOIDA sticker either.

Most of them are on old rusted out lawn ornaments next to the for sale sign

It never occurred to me to stick a OOIDA decal on anything. I guess after paying them $300 or so a year (3x memberships, 2x CMCI) I really think I've rewarded them enough for all they do for me.
Far as the ELD or not debate, I've concluded that most drivers with opinions are experts on other peoples' business.
