I got inspected 2 times this past week.
Only 1 violation found. The stupid doctor filled out my physical card for 3 years instead of 2...
I ran 3000 miles in 4 days but kept the book looking legal...
Had the week over with and got inspected the second time bob-tailing home,I had 15 miles to the house.

Most places that I drove there was little activity. Virginia got the guy in front of me on I-95 yesterday. They seemed to have a steady flow of inspections. They would grab one, inspect him and grab another a little later. Roanoke had a couple of drivers pulled around back when I cam through when this kicked off. Pennsylvania started with those parked in the rest area on I-81 just south of the I-78 split. This was before 7:00 am. The weigh station/rest area was not actually open for business. I guess they wanted to check the ones who were resting first. That is the only activity that I can recall seeing.

I didn't get an inspection, but every weigh station I came across was open. I had one load weighed 5 times in 870 miles.

I didn't cross any scales....never do....ain't any between here 'n there TO cross. Besides, I've never understood why anyone would willingly drive up to where they KNOW the cops are waiting to harass them....nothing good can come from doing that. If they want me, they have to find me out where I'm running....I refuse to make it easy on 'em, because like I said, no good can come from it. BEST case scenario, you slow down, cross the scale and you are on your way. WORST case scenario, they decide to detain & harass you for a while, eating into your 14 hour work day, causing you to be late for that JIT pickup or delivery, and possibly seeing something they don't like (perhaps it's a problem, perhaps they just woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning, or perhaps they have some incentive from their higher-ups to "find" problems during their inspection to justify having the "safety blitz" to begin with...no telling) and you get put OOS and have to wait for a repair truck to show up to fix a "problem" that isn't really that big of a deal. Why risk it if you don't have to? It's your livelihood, and these days CSA2010 can be an unforgiving b!%&#....making their wild goose chase affect your ability to work for the next few years.

I did see 'em out 'n about workin' hard, though....couple even had their creepers out on the side of the road, which makes me wonder....

How in the heck to they get under some of these trucks with their side skirts & crap only inches from the ground? I've always seen 'em and thought it'd be a nightmare doing your pretrip and regular maintenance since you can't get under the vehicle....but how do the DOT guys get under there to do their inspections on the side of the road?
