I loaded in Los Angeles, scaled out, got my tandem weights adjusted. Then slid my 5th wheel all the way back for a smooth ride. I made it across CA, AZ, NM, TX, OK, AR, and got a ticket east of Memphis for 1,500 overweight on one axle. I was still green and never dreamed sliding the 5th wheel could move that much weight. TN didn't even make me get legal to leave the scales. Just gave me 2 tickets and waved bye.
How did I get away with this?

So a few weeks ago she and my daughter (who is skinny as a rail) started with this crap about legs being fat, and all of that crap while we were returning home and my wife asked me about her legs for the billionth time so I said 'yes sweetie, your legs are fat. It looks like you have been following Mama June's special diet for the past month". Now you would think I would get hit in the head or have them both screaming at me but for the rest of the day I had a wonderful QUIET day and night, not a word from either of them.
Since then, I have not been asked. She mentioned it once in front of her friends and I said right after her quip I told her I would never lie to her and I won't so she asked, I answered.91B20H8, homeskillet, Feedman and 2 others Thank this. -
As long as you aren't WAY out, being under gross is all they usually care about in places that aren't run by taxation specialists. It's when you are over 1000lbs over on a single axle group or over gross that they get the rubber gloves out. Also depends on the scale operator's mood at the time.
