What did you go through to become an O/O?, How long or how much experaince did you have before making the leap into O/O
I would like to become an O/O I have a set goal for my self to do this. I just wonder how long it may take before making the transition, I know that mose insurance company's wont even look at you until you have at least 2 year experiance. Any feedback will help me!

I drove the rig for dad for a few years, then left when 2nd kid came along.
found myself out of work around the same time he snapped his achillies tendon.
with no desire to drive again, the truck was sitting, so i took it over..

This is ancient history. I wanted to be an owner-operator probably since age 14 when I learned it was a possibility. After six years as a company driver, I visited a small carrier and learned that one of their authority applications had been protested by Key Line Freight. Key Line was headquartered in my old home town, so I wrote to them. They replied that I would be hired if I became an owner-operator. I ordered a new IH 4070A from a local dealership and financed with International Harvester Credit Corp. The down payment and initial operating expenses came from money my wife and I had saved to upgrade to a new house. I quit my local delivery job and went on the road with Key Line in March. The divorce was final in September. I operated that tractor for nine years.
Donk and customtanks Thank this.
