Just understand that's not the norm out there. Drivers making half that are much less likely to eagerly share about it than those making big money.
How did you fair this year?

I don't know where @TravR1 works, but $80k your first year seems far above the norm. I gather he is team driving which usually means more miles/money. If I do the average number of miles as a new driver this year I should make about $45k-$50k my first year, depending on bonuses. That seems to be closer to normal from what I have been able to figure out. I wish I could be more helpful but I wanted to make sure you also saw some more realistic numbers. I'm coming from the perspective of a rookie driving for a mega-carrier OTR dry van, for what that's worth. I wish you luck either way!

Between the wife and I filing jointly, our gross income was up about $17k over last year now that she's back to full time work. She was home with the kids since about 2011. She started back full time in August '17.
Anyway, as I said, our gross was up about 17k over last year, and we are getting almost double what we got last year. I expect that will change next year, I've changed my withholding so I'm not loaning the gooberment money interest free for a whole year. I can spend it better than they can.slim6596 Thanks this. -
