Take a look into the eyes of folks on a Ventilator with a full Tracheostomy on 5 liters of oxygen.

Unfortunately many folks are not able to quit until they are deadly scared. I quit after a visit to ER.

Already takes place in several industries.

I quit about 5 years ago. Probably about 10 years too late to NOT die from complications of COPD.

I’ll tell you what though. First time someone even utters the word “terminal” to me,,,,, I’m a pack a day habit the next day. I’ll spend every single last cent on hookers and blow and whisky, wine and song in between. I sure do miss it.

Everyone probably has an anecdote about someone they knew or loved dying from smoking related illnesses.
For me it was my grandma. She smoked 2 packs of non filters a day for 40+ years. She survived breast cancer in her mid 40's and was the toughest woman I ever knew. Emphysema and COPD brought her to her knees and turned her into a shell of the woman she once was before she passed.:(

When I was a company driver, I hated getting into a smokers truck after they had left the company. I finally got to the point that if I got up in it and it smelled like tobacco smoke, I either got a different truck or a different job.

I wonder if you guys know, and if you thought it would be a good idea for you, that in the UK it has been illegal for some years now, to smoke in a work vehicle .This includes all lorries and company cars too. Even owner drivers, who are the only drivers of their trucks are forbidden by this law. When you are preparing to settle down for the night in your sleeper, you are required to get out completely, naked or not, for that last cig.

As you can imagine there was widespread opposition to this and I expect widespread ignoring of it, only blokes like you @TX2Day might have appreciated it and could have reported the company when you experienced the above. :)

Follow a ketogenic diet and try prolonged fasting. Dr. Eric berg has some great videos on YouTube.

Although they are not particular to smoking cessation i can say from my own experience the only time I have quit tobacco products is by not eating anything for 48-72 hours at least twice a month. If you don't eat than it breaks the nicotine craving cycle as I believe it is the spike in glucose that triggers the desire (dopamine rush) to smoke. The urge to smoke was unbearable after breakfast but if i didn't eat then i could go the day without nicotine and understanding that pattern was a big step.

This method will take multiple fasts and in time you'll see what I mean. It's not easy but a tool to help the process.

Also even the nicotine gums and patches are addictive so as others have stated cold turkey is the way to go.

Cold turkey, only way to quit or start anything, in my opinion…all in or nothing at all. It wasn’t really all that hard. A bit irritable for a few weeks, but I was expecting far worse.
