How did you quit Smoking cigarettes?

    Over about 25 years, I quit 3 times. Once, cold turkey. The next, I used those little pouches of skoal. The last time in 1999, the Dr told me if I didnt quit, I was going to be pulling one of those little oxygen tanks around.
    The Dr gave me Wellbutrin. Best thing EVER! Here's the catch though. Wellbutrin & Zyban are exactly the same pill. Wellbutin was marketed to help curb anxiety. They started getting LOTS of wide spread reports that people were.... for some reason, quitting smoking, without any effort. After some research, they started marketing it as Zyban for quiting smoking.

    Problem is, insurance wont pay for Zyban because its a "quit smoking" pill.
    However, insurance will pay for Welbutrin. So, he prescribed me Wellbutrin & insurance paid for it.
    In 6 weeks, I went from 1 1/2 packs a day to 0 cigarettes with no .... let me say that again.... NO effort.... period.

    BEWARE: Some people can NOT take this (anxiety) medication. It actually has the reverse effect on some people & become very Irrate, anxious & even combative. I know two people personally that tried it after me that had reverse effects to it. After about a week, they were irritable, yelling & screaming at everyone. They had to get off it immediately after about a week.
    However I have known a few others that tried it after me & it worked just as well for them as me. One friend even stopped drinking in addition to stopping smoking.

    I went cold turkey almost 4 weeks ago.
    Is been trying a couple times but I smoked for a long time!

    Im down to half a pack a day more or less. Sometimes as little as 6 or 7. Obviously it's bad for you but half a pack or less is way way diff than 2 packs a day. Driving is habit i gotta break, just outta bordem. And the after dinner smoke with a beer Lol that's the hardest one to break

    That first one in the morning with a cup of coffee was like breakfast. Sometimes it was breakfast.
    I learned all the triggers and all the established habit patterns but that first one was the hardest to get past.

    The dip became a problem, though, and I had to quit that cold-turkey after developing pre-cancerous tissue in my gums. My dentist was not amused.

    Usually my breakfast too but I never eat breakfast. Never hungry when I 1st wake up

    i smoked about 7 years. dated a smoker once and i quit cold the next day.

    I smoke one on the odd numbered hours on days I work. Weekends are different. If I don’t leave the house all weekend I might go without smoking until Monday morning.
