I got a letter from Werner saying they would reimburse up to 6,000 for trucking school if I get a SLS, Stafford, or GLS loan. So how do I go about getting the loan?

Went to Staffords website and I saw nothing for trucking school!?

The stafford loan is thru the federal government. You would have to contact the financial aid office of the school you would be attending

Really? Seriously? Go somewhere for owing time back only, like Stevens. The first year will suck but you won't be in debt for seven years or more.

i went to my bank to see if they would give me one to go to national training in greencove springs, fl. if i financed the whole $4995 then i'd need a co-signer. But i may just do 2500 then the school will finance the other 2500. Ill put up my house as collateral since im 19 years old, and my credit isnt old enough to get the loan for school

Stevens makes you pay for it.. you either pay it back in weekly installments, or you pay the full-on amount.. I think it's nearly $6000. I was queued to go with them until they told me how much their training was. One of the few carriers who won't make you pay for it right now is CRST, but then there's an eight month, team-driving commitment.

Why do that when it'll be at least 2 years before anyone will hire you and the school certificate will be worthless long before that ?

They repay IF you get hired and stay employed with them for whatever the agreed term is . The odds are highly against that happening . Too many drivers have been terminated within a few months and quite a few were rejected at orientation .

id do that because i have a job lined up for when i graduate, i have a trucking company that hauls trailer dumps for florida rock that i can start at when i graduate, so i can get experience. Then at 21 ill have experience and a good job history, plus the school agreed to let me come back in 2011 when i turn 21 so i can get refresher training, also get me DOT certified to run interstate, and they'll update the date on my certificate all for free.
