What happens when you apply at a otr truck company. Then you go for a drug test and dot physical and your schedule to attend there orientation this Saturday. But you got another job offer thats local and pays better and you want to take that job? Also I want to be able to go to this otr truck company if this local job don't work out.

I would say yes..Use that to your advantage. Just tell them the truth on the local job and say I am person who is honest and dependable so here is the money for the test and I hope that if this job dose not work out for me, I can come back.

Yeah but if its one of the mega carriers it wont matter at all. If its a smaller OTR company it would make a much bigger difference.

Actually, Harvey, it does make a difference with the bigger companies as well. A notation is made in the computer file of what transpired. If someone makes the offer to pay for the testing and physical and honestly explains the situation with a request to keep the door open, it will be noted and that door will remain open.

I don't know how it is with other companies, but with Swift, you are not officially hired until you get your driver code and Comdata card. I do not believe they charge for orientation and physicals/drug tests if you decide to go somewhere else. At least, I have never heard of it here.

An employer will respect you more if you are truthful. Thank them for the opportunity and let them know that if it doesn't work that you hope they will still consider you.
