How do I go about this?

    Ok here is the full story. I put in my notice at the job where I'm at now. I am schedule to go to Schneider on 9/24. The other job Central Transport said they will call me mid next week. I already did everything they wanted me to do (( interview with the DM & phone interview with corporate. They sent me for the physical / drug screen. They also gave me all the paper work for the company as in insurance, dental ect... So I'm pretty sure I got the job. So should I call SNL tomorrow and let them know? I want to do this right. So I can go to SNL down the road if it don't work out at CT.

    Not trying to talk you out of it...If it came down to Schneider or Central Transport I would also pick CT.......Be really look into that company...They have JUNK equipment. Alot of automatic Sterlings and Internationals......No overtime til 55 hours. You also have to unload your own trailer every night.

    Harvey, I really looked at CT and was a bit nervous but Its local. 7pm to 7am. I was told I would run from Milwaukee,WI to New Buffalo,MI @ a rate of $110 round trip or Chicago @ $85...plus $18hr for dock work (( load and unload )) the trailer I'm hauling. I do that now at Klements. Been at my job 10yrs only 9mo driving. I'm ok with doing some work. Schneider was going to be regional @ .33 cents a mile. 6 days on / 3 days off. The equipment at CT in Milwaukee don't look that bad. Plus right now I'm driving a 1999 fright liner thats under power lol

    My buddy just quit there and said you get $10 to hook a set and $10 to break it down I think. Never heard of another LTL company that figures pay the way they do.

    Running through the Windy City every day for 110 bucks a day would get old really quick for me. Just my way of looking at it..

    I think i would do the regional deal out of the two choices.

    Most of the drivers don't stay at CT a year unless you get lucky and one of the P&D drivers quit and you have seniority and take that. Those are the good jobs.

    Unless they moved it, the docks are in Hammond, IN on the other side of Chicago. I worked out of Kenosha, WI terminal (now closed). I ran with the Milwaukee drivers many times. I forget exactly, but I made .64/mile and $22 on the dock. You make killer money, but you work your arse off unloading trailers.

    An average night you head out about 7pm and get to Hammond about 9:30-10. You then have to check in the gate sometimes as many as a dozen trucks in line. You breakdown your pups and dock them. You then commence to cross dock both pups wide open. Imagine 50 truckdrivers wide open on forklifts. The dust flies. The earlybirds get the best lifts. The rest get slow junk with square tires. Some don't get charged and you run out of juice.

    They have a bunch of young college kids as your supervisors. Most are on power trips watching your every move. Once you get your trailers done, they might make you unload one or two more. If they don't like you, they will play games with you and keep you there. The head honcho sat in a shack in the middle and is an ex-marine. He was all gunho too. He gave you the additional trailer assignments and released you to head back to your terminal. Alot of the trailers have racks in them and you have to break them down and stack them. Alot of times freight is fallen all over the place and you have to restack it.

    When you do get out of there around 4am or so, you race back to your terminal and unload that trailer there and cross dock it and have the trailers ready for the P&D guys when they come in. You'll have a 12+ hour everyday. I had an hour commute on top of that. Weekends you just want to sleep. But most my checks were $1200-1800.

    I did linehaul for awhile too, running Kenosha to Ft. Wayne, IN and back. That run was so boring, I had to fight to stay awake.

    It's an okay for a gig, but not many stay except for the P&D drivers. If you can tough it out a year, you might get one of them jobs.
