That upgrade probably includes the school too! You guys don't realize that the companies you actually have to pay your dues are the ones worth driving for. This is how they sort out the bums from the guys that are serious about trucking! Central pays well and their drivers drive new trucks. If you want to jump in a truck and go I recommend Swift. They don't invest any time in their drivers because they turn them over so quickly! As far as reefer goes, I would rather do reefer than anything else. It pays more than dry van and is less work. Dry van requires tier building and lumping plywood. You also get those furniture loads!
Of course every driver has their own opinion of what they like to do.

I get that school idea so I asked her about that. I did school out of my pocket because I do not want to be in anyone else's pocket. But she said nope. From the day I arrive to the day I drive .... 25 weeks.
So I asked her if I was deivering those cows by hand ....
She did not find the humor. -
I wish I could go to Central but they requires 2 years of job experience and I don't have any job experience, just University.

You aren't going to make squat your first year, give up the house and put only prized possessions in storage, sell the rest. You're not going to get "home time" like you think. Take with you only what you can fit in a duffel bag and carry in one load.

I didnt know they trained that long but thats a good thing it gives the new driver a chance to see what its like and more experience with a seasoned driver

See if you can get into tankers. Specialized training is a good way to go. Schneider starts rookies out at .38 on tanks. Other companies will take you on as well. You can't send out resumes on the internet and expect to get hired though. You have to go see terminal manager face to face and sell yourself. I made 48 my first year and 52.8 last year and that was in a recession.
