Sit on bunk and kick it!

the top cover should just pop out with little prying. Then 3 little screws. There will be a little ball, don't lose or leave it out.
I beleive you can't just use the spitter in low range like an 18 speed. I think your chasing a myth. Though taking the shifter apart is pretty simple. -
yup perfect way to make a trans go kaboom !!!!!!!!!!!!

50 years ???? Don't play with your knob!!!!!

Bad idea!!!!

no if its a Mack 13 you can make it a 18 by breaking the lock out tab or you can go to mack and by a 18sp gear shift and put it on there the exact same trans.

What ?!..........................................

Please educate me but I've haven't seen a mack 13/18 speed transmission. Sure it isn't an Eaton Fuller? If so, you can change the knob but the 13 has weaker gears and using the splitter in the low side will break gears. Real bad idea.

You've never seen a 13/18 speed Mack but you know Eaton 13 speed gears are weaker than 18 speeds? Eaton 13 speeds are the same trans as an 18 speed. $500 in parts will change a 13 speed into a 18. They use the same gears.
Mack has trans from 5 speed thru 13, 15, 18, 20 speeds
