If there's an AMscot check cashing place near you, those are free, I use their free MO's all the time.

 

I have my money loaded on my Comdata card and disperse it as needed from there. There is someone who takes care of bills for me, I sent a pile of blank Comchecks to. I get the next Comcheck number in the pile, register the check for whatever amount I want to and then tell the individual how to fill it out. All of this is done over the phone and nobody but me and the company know how much my check was for each week. (Oh, yeah...and that guv'mint that I detest.)

open an electric orange checking account with http://home.ingdirect.com/products/products.asp?s=ElectricOrange ing. link it to the key bank account. then all you have to do is pay her by either P2P (if she has an email account) or at the worst they will mail a paper check free of charge. $20 charge if you want it overnighted. you won't have to change your direct deposit, or give her access to a savings account. you can do all this over the internet, and it'll be more secure than the phone. no charges, other than an expedited check and they pay interest on the balance. not a lot, but it's better than paying for the "privilege".

 

You can have the comdata set up to allow a direct deposit by phone to the account of your choice. However, it is limited to the one account.

Another thought is to sign up for PC Banking. Then set your lady up as a biller. Then when you want to send her money have your bank send her a check. There are two ways to do this: A paper check directly to her address OR a paper check to the bank's address with her bank account number on the check. All this can be accomplished from your laptop.
