depending on the programming u can sometimes disable idle shutdown by putting something heavy on the brake pedal

oh, boy. I think you got the wrong idea about how to set the truck to high idle:) the way to set high idle is you hit the cruise control knob once while idling. That will bump rpm by like 50. Keep bumping it till you get to whatever rpm you want (usually limited to 900). Setting to high idle has absolutely nothing to do with the the stick pushing the throttle peddal:)

I have a CAT c-13 2004 freightliner. stupid thing is determined to idle limit no matter what lol. High idle, either brake knob pushed in, both brake knobs pushed in. It shuts off once it feels nothing has changed in 5 minutes or so. I'll try the clutch pedal stick thing. I bet if i disconnect the air temp sensor it will stay on idle. Anyone know where the temp sensor may be on my truck??? Thanks

Just have the setting shut off at a local dealer if you own the truck. Mine was disabled long ago.

Yeah, i've heard it costs over $200. I rather spend that $200 and my downtime on other bizzillion more important things i need to do to the truck lol

Or look at that 200$ as a investment in a good nights sleep. It cost me 80$ from a international dealer to do mine. Or holler out on the cb in a truck stop, there is more then enough of us running around with the program to do it.

And I would gladly pay $200 to be warm and toasty - instead of freezing the F off In uSX red schlock feeling like absolute CRAP and driving like CRAP the next morning because the (expletive) (expletive) (expletive) shut down prevents a good night sleep. Over and out

Chock the wheels and leave the brakes released? Don't recommend it but I've heard of it being done.

One way That might work without going to the dealer and pays no 150(1hour minimum) is climbing on a wheel chock and then putting another in front of the tire then releasing the brakes where the choks were wedged in the drives so no one can move them out and sleep like that. Of course common sense goes a long way with that.
