I have a PO Box and have switched all my bills except for one to online. I receive the statements by email and pay them online while OTR. The one thing I've loved about this is that I don't seem to get junk mail anymore with the PO Box!
How do long haul(single) drivers recieve any mail?

if you live on the road pay attention where you run most what area you are in and what you are around. for example I-70 terre haute In. ex 4 there is a post office that is in an industrial area. you can pull over easily in front. right back on the big road there is a shopping area and they are familiar with big truck traffic.

I'm returning to trucking and trying to set up a similar deal. In the past I had used a mail service as my only address. It was great because they would forward stuff anywhere and also tell me what was in my box. But after 9/11 they changed all the laws and you have to have an actual residential address on your license - which is a total catch-22 if you live in your truck.
I can't use a PO Box because they will only hold your mail for 30 days at a time I think. They don't like it piling up. Now I see these new services (mentioned earlier in the thread) that scan your mail so you can actually see it online. I'm kind of paranoid about setting up with them because what happens if they disappear and go out of business? Anyone use something like 'Earth Class Mail' or 'US Global Mail'? Or anyone know of a good trucker mail forwarding company that is situated alongside a main interstate? -
my friend collects my mail and is a signee on my checkbook but almost all my bills are pd online

I learned the hard way. Small boxes will hold a single person for about 3-4 weeks. If you stay out longer than that get a medium size box. It'll hold you for 6-8 weeks.
I live in a small town and know the clerk. He goes out of his way to help anyone. A big city might be different. They can put a note on the back of your box to know you are a truck driver.
Do everything you can online and it limits a lot of the mail you get. Mainly junk mail.Ralph4159 Thanks this. -
I use a locking mailbox ... it will hold 3-4 weeks worth

UPS Store post mail box. No sales flyers are sent there, and if it overflows they hold it in a box for free. I have 24 hr access. Can call them and have it all forwarded anywhere in the world for a small fee plus whatever shipping charges I choose. They also hold large boxes shipped to me like truck parts, etc. Best of all I don't have tweakers stealing my identity.

I tried private postal service ( P.M.B. ) -- good for awhile but gets screwed up if you "move" and do not give them a forwarding order ~ tried USPS box on suggestion of friend and have used them for several decades,....at some point you may have to have a physical address and forcing that to be "not by word nor deed but by badge alone" is error prone so for a physical address it is strongly suggested to use anyone, friend relative or otherwise, that will let you do that - only critical issue is if someone has something that really matters that person has to be able to do set-aside in safe-box or mail it to your USPS PO BOX
mail may be federal but still people can jack with it ~ only if someone hands you a piece of paper can it be proven that you actually got it - use https to do online anyting -
I use virtual po box, that hold my mails at there facility and email me a scan for them to check which one I need and which should be shredded. If I need them to open it for me, I request it and they send it back as pdf through my mail. Try this company they have good prices link

When I was doing OTR, I had the post office hold my mail until I was back in town. They would dump it in a box, then I would go to the window and request my mail.
