Hi everyone! I am currently in the process of looking into CDL classes and signing on with a sponsor company. I am also someone who will need to figure out how to use my time in the truck strategically to lose and keep the weight off. I come from a family of truckers and the one thing I’ve noticed is the big bellies. No offense to anyone, I figure if you sit upwards of 12 hours a day driving, it’s gonna happen. So, I was reading this forum and saw some of you talking about keeping weights in the cab. I also noticed someone mention that affecting the weight at the weigh stations. How much weight would be realistic to keep on hand without affecting that number when you hit the scales?

Anytime Fitness. 30 miles west of Spokane on I-90. Petro right across the street.
On the joking side... Drivers always go to the gym wearing yellow safety vests. :)

The bellies come from eating carbs. And all the goodies.
You can have weight fall off by drinking lotsa water. Can straighten out a bunch. Look up Dr Carolyn Dean. The Magnesium miracle.

you could probably fit an Olympic barbell set in the truck or on the truck. make sure to secure it so nothing goes flying

you could do deadlifts, cleans, presses etc.

    also kettlebells

It's all about Calories. Eat too much and your body stores them as fat. Eat less than what body maintenance requires and the body will use it's stored energy. The first thing to do to get control of weight/fat is to get control of your diet. Count calories.
Exercise increases your bodies need for energy/calories. Adjust your needs accordingly. You don't need to work out to maintain weight/fat composition. But there are benefits besides body composition to working out.
    Eat less, do more.

Get a resistance band set (with handles and a door stop), a jump rope, one of those grip strengtheners, and some sneakers(for walking/running).

When you get a little more money pick up some variable weight dumbbells that go up to 50lbs at least.

That's really all you'll ever need. Walk/jump rope before you start your day, do some calisthenics before you eat lunch on your 30, use the bands/weights before you go to sleep. If you're at a shipping/receiver for a while break out the jump rope and bands.
