how do people get a CDL when they dont live in that state?

Seems to me that if she surrendered her Ohio license to Illinois she would have to start over.

ps: according to my company, Kentucky is in the mix. Guess it's a 4 way tho I never go that far south. Our HQ is in IL but I rarely go there, either.

You will need a permit from the state where the school is located, that you will be attending. Which school will you attend? Prepare early and study now for the cdl permit. Google: Free CDL Practice Tests (state name)
