I saw an add in CL today and a guy is looking for hot shots with 3/4 ton or larger trucks 2002 or newer with 40' GN and need to have own authority and pay for all expenses yourself. And he is willing to pay .71 to 1.00 per mile and has all the loads you want. The fact that he is advertising this means that there are people out there willing to work for that. Please someone tell me exactly how that works because my basic math skills can not figure it out.![]()
How do people live on .71 cpm?!!!

You don't ask...you don't get.
Get use to it....as this 'improved' economy gets better, the nature of competition will drive prices even lower! -
Sounds like Uship dot com garbage to me.
-
They don't, that's why so many hotshots die off so quick
gearjammer-2000 Thanks this. -
They're just trying to people starting out to jump on and THINK they're making good money. Those people will either run for that broker till, A. They figure out they're getting screwed and move to better things or B. Be broke and out of business in 6 months.

Well you can still eat at Mcdonalds. The dumpster out back is usually unlocked.
Also free fish heads. Lots of seafod deppartments throw those out. Add a little rice from the grocery department. Just like in the third world. -
Hell my cousin drives hot shot. NOT his truck and makes .40 a mile.
Why the hell would anyone do it for .71? Especially someone who owned their own truck and trailer. With their own authority. -
I think OP must been searching threw uship dot com because that's only place where you find loads going that cheap.

I just left an interview where they were offering 231 miles a day total driving, 35 stops average, 5 days a week and $1200 a week. So you/I would have been expected to unload 4000 lbs. of paper, sometimes a desk or two he said, maintain the truck and make all the other deliveries for less than a dollar a mile!
I had to pass! This industry has been rough to say the least and i just don't see it getting better anytime soon. I feel lucky actually but i would like to get my weight down while making the same money.
Oh yea they also wanted me to pay $180 for a background check, $1000 for a scanner(that they take out of my check).
Man these guys out there taking these jobs must be able to live off NOTHING. Hell, I'm even doing some brokering on the side and it pays more than this job would and I spend about 2 hours a day doing it and barely move a muscle.
