I have a brother who has just been released from federal prison for commiting Bank Fraud. He wants to be a Over the road trucker. Are there any companies that will hire him. He has already taken the initaitive to enroll in trucking school. He is currently on 3 yrs probation.. I believe his conviction was in 2003. What can i tell him? And what companies can i recommend?

get him drunk and depending how big he is, really drunk. most "good" companies won't touch a driver if it is less than 7 years. have him call companies anyway and see what happens. and be really nice while doing it.
-
You may and I bet its a stretch may find some company, but most are going to be 7 years to never.
-
that pretty much tells you his chances...............
now, you sure its "your brother" and not really you........??
with questions like these, i always find it "amusing" that its a friend or relative............hmmmmm...............
bottom line, he simply cannnot be trusted.............he's a convicted felon.......
try "Mc Burger World"...............they'll hire just about anyone......... -
There are a few companies that will hire him. They are not the best ones out there but he can find atleast one that will. The bigger question is will his probation officer be ok with him leaving the state?
TWISTEDSHEETS Thanks this. -
Well he is on federal probation. I'm going to have him ask his probation officer about it. they may have more lenient rule than the states do... I just find it strange to think that no one in the trucking industry is on probation....

I've heard some companies are given some kind of tax break for picking up parolee/probationer/ex con but i'm sure there are some ex cons driving truck the hard part is finding a good company this sit i've only heard of three good companies. Being that thats terrible thinking how many companies there is in this world...... by the way I'm on probation and still searching for a good trucking job.....

if i were an employer, either an O/O or a typical company manager, i would NEVER hire anyone with a criminal past. that person whomever he or she may be, has/had already proven that they cannot live in our society as decent upstanding individuals.
even with so-called "rehabilitation" (yeah right, learn another way to commit more crimes, while behind bars) i would think it best for a convict to find work in a low paying factory, and work his/her way up from there, and stay put.
with the tens of thousands of dollars a rig costs, then insurance, then the freight, would anybody honestly think i would "trust" an ex-con....?????
not today, not tomorrow, not ever.bigwillie Thanks this. -

yes, even the "honest" employee will steal, but, you don't know that till it happens, and its "assumed" you hired an honest person.
up front, you know it was a former criminal...........
