IMHO these companies are just shooting themselves in the foot. I just hate reading there are driver shortages in the industry but these same companies won't hire ex-felons' to fill the jobs.. Talk about a bunch of crap.. -

If a recent felon is on probation chances are unless you held the license before the conviction getting into trucking is nearly impossible. HOWEVER ,before you spend the money that people are and have no convictions, they find it hard getting a job. Besides over the road, there are jobs such as garbage collection, which is amazingly a well paying job, lots of work. Consider other options which may require a cdl besides the over the road.Every one is getting laid off, stores and businesses are closing up.Even lawyers and nurses. There are hiring freezes every where, even in trucking. If there are no loads, and there are a whole lot fewer, !!!!!!! The companies can be choosy and hire drivers with more experience and basically accident free. Why hire a newby who is going to make mistakes and possibly wreck their truck. Their insurance companies are now involved in say so ,on who gets hired because of insurance rates. Think outside of the box! Sure garbage is not appealing, but, because of that , its not a usually a job people stand in long lines to get. Pay is usually good for thoise under filled jobs. A shower or bath will take care of the the scent you may acquire from work, as well as washing your clothes. Good luck to all that want or need to go into trucking. Jobs are scarce even in this field, till the economy changes.
