This actual carrier was forced into EOBR's early because their ratings were in the tank!

It will certainly be interesting how this all plays out and how the little guy is going to absorb the cost of it.

Spot on! They don't fudge stuff when they have to show a stop like fuel that can be cross referenced!
Loading and unloading can be fudged easily as they can make up 1000 excuses, drop and hook etc.

Yep. There will be no more spot checking/log sifting. No more guesswork in who to audit and what logs to pour over...ALL logs will be easily audited. EVERY error will be found. From the government/revenue perspective this is a huge win. As an auditor I can find every infraction and assess every fine, there will be no hiding the football....

Productivity will be greatly diminished as the focus will be on driving error/infraction free.

150 miles away from delivery with 2 hours remaining on the driving clock??

Looks like we'll be rescheduling the delivery appointment on that one.

Was supposed to del on the 22nd @ 0700 becomes 0700 on the 23rd, with the driver driving 50 miles or so after his 10 hour break...what a model of efficiency

150 miles can not be done legally in 2 hours. This is the exact behavior the mandate is intending to prevent.

As far as I know, no. Pretty sure every for hire truck will be included in the mandate.

Not that I am hearing. But the cost is really nothing. Smart phone, $75 plug and as little as $20/month per truck. What I don't get is how the person driving the truck is also the compliance department that gets to review and sign-off on changes (forgot to go off duty.)

They have been doing this for years now and not issuing fines. Most state DOT don't expect perfect. They are looking for trends of abuse.

When I was in IL a state senator had the nerve to bring the State Police to task over the reduced fines after the CSA had been implemented. The top dog made a big deal about tell him that their job is not about generating revenue and about safety. And for them to do their job they would need the cooperation of the carriers. And if they fined them for every little mistake then it would be impossible to get carriers to work on making the highways safer.

A company that I consult with out of TN has just over 800 units. I was in a meeting with the TN DOT and the reports that I am talking about where being reviewed. This carrier had over 1,500 HOS violations in a 90-day period. No fines where issued. No warnings. They looked at the process for making sure that drivers are being trained and monitored. Shook hands and told them to keep up the good work.

This revenue generating idea goes against what is actually happening. I am sure that different states do things differently but so far since the CSA has allowed the DOT to issue warnings tickets are significantly down.

If you get a chance read some of the comments when a state issues fines. You will likely see them talking about a pattern and that repeated chances have been given.
