OIC, no wonder you often come across as so bitter.

I drive solo for covenant, I live in Cookeville,tn; that is 110m from Chattanooga, 100m from Knoxville,tn and 89m from Nashville,tn (last 2 being Star Yards). I take my truck home, no problem. If you are team, when you take hometime, co-driver will be running. There has been problems of getting the teams back together. hometime will be between you and your dispacter.

Go to work for someone that services regional or local. Explain your requirements up front. I wont work for a company that cant get me by the house a couple of time a week and off most weekends. Also the truck must stay with me. I have requirements just like they do, if it does not fit I go to the next one. I have never found any real problem with it. IWX, MAY, APEX to name a few agreed to it. But be upfront, surprising them later does not work, Good Luck.

I spoke with one of our drivers this past week. Said he interviewed with 47 differant companies, before he found the one he wanted.

He doesn't drive after 9pm, he's home on Friday, doesn't leave until Monday.

This is so true. ANY requirements that you have, that you are just not willing to bend on, needs to be put on the table BEFORE you agree to go to work, and they agree to hire you. It is only fair to both you and the company.

Of course, sometimes circumstances beyond your control change after you have taken the job. But that should be the exception, not the rule.
