I have heard by using an inverter, but that many companies don't allow it. How then, do truckers warm up food, charge phones/laptops or run tv in downtime?

edit: I mean't to say 'and' such, not are.

There are cig lighter ports all over in the front and in the sleeper. Just get appliances that have cig port adapter.

Go to a company that has them installed. I wouldn't want to be in a truck without a decent inverter.

Go to a company that has APU, this way you can shut off the truck engine, then crank up the APU and have plenty of power for electronic gadgets, plus have heat and air conditioning.
When you're ready to change companies let us know and we'll help you find a company with APU. Where is your location; city/state?

After all the information here and you are still planning on going to England. I weep for the human race.

You should probably reconsider your choice of Crengland.

I would stay clear of a company that wouldn’t let you use an inverter. If they care that little for you, imagine all the other things that they will pull.

The company I drive for used to have weak inverters so I installed my own 3500 watt one. People act like installing an inverter is rocket science. Red (positive) and black (negative) using low gauge wire which usually comes with the inverter and you are done. You can remove it if your company doesn't allow it when you go to their mechanics. Then wire it back when you leave.
