never drove for a company that put those valves on the heater core hose.

turn heat off at dash and it is off. even on a '82 with a Cat.

The company doesn't have to, every single truck I've ever driven, KW, Pete, Mack, Sterling, Ottowa all had this valve on a hose leading to the heater core.

Get yer AC fixed. We run a 93 and 99 CH and it'll freeze you out on Low-Med. Only time i have to use high is when it's 90°+

Make sure the blend door isn't stuck open. Had that happen on the 93. A sure sign of that is it will blow hot air towards the passenger side. Half a dozen screws will confirm or eliminate that much

Edit: unless you're sitting in the jump seat you might not even feel the warm air. Looking back on it now we should of known that was the issue. Winter time the drivers side would be normal and if somebody was in the jump seat their feet would be cold. Check that 1st

It's easy to overlook the small things that'll come back and bite you in the ###

    Living in west Texas,
    drink plenty of fluids
avoid eating heavy dense foods while driving during extreme heat(above 100 deg)
get plenty of sleep during the night

Put both windows down... and put the steel toe on the throttle. Doesn’t work with flip flops and shorts though
