I support a family of 5 on $1400 every 2 weeks... If you cant live on twice that amount something is very wrong.

I live in a smaller town where most everyone is blue collar or commutes at least 30 miles to work. We dont have a Starbucks, at least I dont think we do, but I recently noticed some kind of drive through java joint. Thought i would give it a go... Pulled up to the window and some wierd looking gal asks what i would like...

    ME... large coffee
    HER... What kind
    ME... Strong dark and sweet

She gives me a disgusted look and starts to ramble on about frapy-mocho-cappi-ect...

I just let the clutch out and left, coffee really isnt that hard. Why do they insist on making hard.

Groceries only $200 a month, love to know how you survive on only $200 I'd spend that much in a week on groceries. Its great to own a home, however one needs to first sit down and calculate the expenses as you've listed and ask "can I afford a mortage?" Obviously the banks agreed, one must also consider the what if's though, like what if my current income goes down? What if my other expenses go up will that allow me enough cash to cover all my costs? But yes not a lot left after expenses at the end of the month thats for sure. The added advantage though with a mortage is at lest the money you've paid you can get back if you ever sold the home, whereas if your were say spending $500 on rent that money is gone. Wished I could get back all the money I spent over the years on rentals. Anyway hope you can earn a few extra dollars in the future, think a few bottles of beer and a bottle of bourbon are the least of your worries.

20-somethings ARE lucky to press the correct picture on the cash register if you ask for something on the menu.

What I pay on my mortage is HALF what it costs to rent a small apartment in my neck of the woods... Even after utilities I pay WAY less than what it costs to rent.
