I learned quite a bit,we had to go through Colorado and Utah regulations line by line and then there were the map requirements for CA,CO,PA,UT.Also insurance and I have discovered what a bear that is so I was glad he spent a lot of time on that. About 25% of the class failed the exam and that was after paying the fee for the class so what you're saying is flat out wrong.People did leave empty handed. We had four books mailed to us before the class which we had to read before coming to the class and they were all very technical. As bad as reading thruogh the FMC safety regulations. He warned us ahead of time that the failure rate for his class was increasing so we better pay attention.

He warned you that it is increasing, that means someone noticed that everyone was passing. Its been 10 years since I took his class so Im sure it had to get better.

A few years of hauling oversized loads would be nice. Local knowledge of the roads doesn't hurt either. A reliable vehicle that conforms to legal requirements. Knowledge of how to read a permit. Mapping and routing skills. Punctuality.

Well in that case.....if I were you I would pick up a copy of the pilot car book at a truck stop and make cold calls. Ask them what you have to do to get hired. Ask to speak to the boss, and give him your name and contact info so they remember you when you call back to tell him you did everything they asked. If you did that I would hire you in an instant. It shows forethought and commitment.

4Star out of Indiana. Tell them that you have CDLs. They will train. And you can use one of their vehicles. Keep in mind, any pilot car training will be the very bar minimum. If you want to be good at what you do and stay busy, you have to apply yourself.

    Luck in battle.

Good old 4 star pilot car and taxi service
To me ranks right up with the old pilot car service out of Ga.. They ran those old Tx police cars.. Six what was the name of them. Charlie was the owners name.. They changed names and tried to base themselves out of east Tx..
