They use average revs per mile as published by manufacturer, if the Michelins are a little taller then you will be a little faster, you would need to know the exact difference in diameter to figure out exactly how much faster. Michelins website says 511 revs per mile. Using their revs per mile, a brand new set will go 104.209395 MPH @ 2300 RPM.

So either way there is a little bit of variation.

When I did this my truck had about 575K on it, I sold it at 885K, and I know the next owner overhauled it around the million mile mark. So turning it 2300 apparently didn't hurt it. I didn't do it but a handful of times though.

Yes there will always be some variation I'm sure Eaton just took each manufacturers word for the revs per mile, then just averaged it to get close.

I almost bought a brand new truck in 06, speced it out nice, it was a W9, 86" sleeper with a bed instead of the couch, I can't remember if it was the 550 or 600hp, but ordered it with the 2250 ft/lbs 18 speed and 3.36 rears with 22.5 LP's on it.

Would have been interesting to see how that truck did.

We have an 02 Pete 379 48 inch flat top with the 1MM 600hp C16 18 speed and 3.36 rears with lo pro 24.5 on it, pretty close to the set up you described. My son pulls a grain wagon with it I don't get to drive it but it will get after it no doubt about it. I had to govern it back to 70 cause of his age and insurance but thats plenty.

I've always had my engines turning 2450, including the one I own now, and remember when we ran 4:33 and 4:11's we'd cruise at 2100 and never had any problems. The added rpm's will gain you some speed but sure don't help the fuel mileage any. I met a friend at the Triple T oneday and he was driving for Crete back when they had the white K-100s with the red stipe and I think they had a Cummins 290 and a 9 speed. Well this ole boy was a certified Cummins mechanic having quit the shop to start driving several years prior, we were both going back home and I told him I'd back out of it so he could keep up, and he said I wouldn't have to worry about that as he'd turned it wide open since he was quiting when he got back to K-Town and that it ran really smooth after it passed 3000 rpms. He stayed with me at any speed I wanted to run and never did any harm in nineteen hundred miles, except for blueing the stack.

Dang it man that's what I call revved up, and I have heard on engines that have a runaway due to fumes in the breathers or governor problems that they get quiet at one point. I didn't want to admit 2350 is top rpm on mine and like you have run it at 2150 many times out of had to be there.

There is a video on you tube of a detroit diesel in an old chevy truck that runs away on the guy, he stops it by covering the turbo with eiter a rag or piece of plastic. Kind of a scary vid.

Whats the point of a fast truck? Most tires are rated for 75 mph, go faster than that and you'll be prime pickings for a lawyer in any accident, fault or not. Not to mention the cost of fuel.
