Started driving back when I was 18 before all the rules and regulations, Left OTR when I got married (21 years ago) Came back to driving in 2006 when I got divorced, Drove for a great guy hauling steel in the lower South East region from Georgia to Florida. Was usually home every other day or so. Have since met a great gal, we got married and honestly I couldnt be happier. The guy I was working for lost 2 of his trucks, wasnt making the money he used to due to fuel costs and contracted prices. Long story short.. I am now working for a company Tattle Tails in the trucks and you dont go over 60MPH.. You know who it is... lol :biggrin_25525: Anyways...... I was hired as South EAST regional... Yeah well that isnt happening... They do get me home for 3 days on a 3 week out or 2 days on a 2 week out.. Wife is NOT happy and neither am I...... Get lots of texts and e mails voice mails telling me she misses me...

My question goes out to those of you that are married.... Dont want to lose her.... Sooo How do you keep your marriage in good standing only seeing your wife 3 or 4 days out of a month? She cant come with me, she has a 17 year old daughter thats about to pop her first child.. And quite honestly I think we will get stuck raising the baby... Should I just give up the driving and try to find something else? Or is thers some advice you can give a newly married guy to help keep his wife happy? Texts and phone calls just are not cutting it any more. Honestly I miss the home every other day and so does she... I dont see that EVER happening with the company I am with... I was one of the few that they actually hired from Florida as there doesnt seem to be the freight turn over down there... I usually end up bob tailing 70 or 90 miles to get home.... Haul a lot of sailboat fuel too when they try to get me home and I know it will eventually come to an end. Please give me some real advice. Like the company I am with and I really dont want to be working at McDonalds.

The way I see it you only have 2 options:

    1. Find another company that can't commit to more home time.
    2. Get out of the business and find something else.

Your going to have to make a decision as to what's the most important thing, Your wife or $$. Personally, I would talk it over with the Mrs' to be sure you are both on the same page, before you do anything. If you see that you are both wanting the same thing, then go for it. It's much easier to deal with a major lifestyle change if you both agreed to it.

Have you thought about Wiley Sanders in Alabama..They have lots of loads going to Tampa and are very flexable on home time. Just a thought. My son drives for them and is in Tampa sometimes twice a week. I heard they are in need of good drivers
