Company trucks are 62mph, lease and O/O are supposed to be 67. Somehow, mine ended up 68. Rarely sees it anyway. Best fuel economy is 63.

By getting paid by the hour....

She's a" lease" operator, most lease operators at Sure Wish I'd Finished Training are set at 68mph instead of the company driver of 62mph,, only real benefit to leasing.
Lease operator = !)some who has a family and gets con'd into thinking they will own the truck but, will starve and family will suffer while the company makes a killing,, 2) someone who has nothing to tie them down and gets con'd into thinking they will own the truck and lives in the truck (their home is the road)
Both cases will find that as a lease operator you will NEVER own that truck. But the company will make a killing off of your hard work and stupidity. -

Good one, Keepn.
Yeah, that may well be the case for most of the lease ops with any company. But, I get home every week to a beautiful place in Northern Idaho, am able to make all my bills and, in fact, have enough left over to put away a tidy investment account.
The difference is, I don't really care what the people across the street have, am not interested in owning a boat, ATV, massive entertainment center, brand new Mustang or lots of jewelry. I have my house, my pickup and my motorcycle. Oh, yeah....and my S***Spreader. I'm content and comfortable with that.
People who run into trouble with Swift's lease usually (not always....usually) have no business sense, do not save for maintenance and cannot manage money.corneileous and Raiderfanatic Thank this. -
@Striker... No it's not a typo... LOL's... AZ state sued their ### and made them increase their speed to 68mph...

PIA but just have to deal with it...

I drove a 63 mph truck for a BFI, it didn't bother me.
I was so excited when I went to a small carrier and the truck was wide open. The SS is 63-64 on the truck, since I get paid by the load and a percentage of fuel savings I run just like I always have. The only difference is when I happen upon the BFI trucks that insist on pulling along side and riding for 5 miles, not paying attention to traffic behind them. The throttle is nice at that point, should I decide to "leave" them sitting there.

I was not expecting so many posts. Is lease op really as bad as described? Does it just depend on the lease?
-
I wish they'd do the same to England. I still don't understand why they thought slowing lease trucks down to company speed was a good idea. You'd think that would be an extra perk to signing a lease as to not go the speed of excrement sliding down a tree in January.
