The question to ask would be which has more impact on the environment? A driver throwing their DEF containers away properly and not in our rivers and lakes, or them idling all night in a courtesy parking space?

Why do people buy DEF containers? Is it cheaper? Do the DEF pumps not work on their trucks? I have never purchased a DEF container in my almost 6 years of trucking.

Never had a "clean" truck. LOL
But I think it has to do with quality.

Their property and their right to charge for parking.
If they don't why not park free? TAs LOVEs and P/FJ pushed out or acquired Ma&Pa truck stops without much consideration for their well beings after either.

I vote for NASTC. They have an app where you can view the fuel stops on a map and press them to know the fuel price for today and tomorrow. Here are today’s prices on some of the usual cheapest fuel stops.

    FUEL TAX INCLUDED

    Circle K (AMBEST), Rochelle, IL
    2.236
    Speedway, Effingham, IL
    2.248
    Speedway, Knoxville, TN
    2.319
    TA/Petro, Amarillo, TX
    2.332
    Shoemakers (AMBEST), Lincoln, NE
    2.354
Sapp Bros, Salt Lake City, UT
    2.46

If they do it for the DEF quality, they should just buy DEF from well-maintained and frequently-used truck stops. I like buying DEF from Speedway. Those truck stops look nice and have cheap DEF.

If I remember correctly, it’s from 8am-5pm. The class is not mandatory, but if you don’t go, you must sign up to their monthly safety program, which costs about $30 monthly (I think).

If they are in a Peterbilt it might be the gauge isn't working correctly just like their sending units in the fuel tank. I was in one and it started bouncing from full to empty so I stopped and bought a container. That was a waste of money, had plenty in the tank

A lot of small fuel stops don’t have def pumps so you have to buy it in jugs or go to a real truck stop and use their def pump
