How do you find decent and legitimate company sponsored training? I think there are more scams than anything else.
My husband was a class B driver for several years and then lost his job when the economy tanked a few years ago. Since then he has been unable to find a good company that hires Class B drivers. (Or one that pays anything)
He has now been out of the game so long that he will need to start over again from scratch. Hes been talking about getting his class A forever, but is scared to death of getting involved with a bad company. Everyone knows the worst companies, so I wont mention any names.
He thought he landed a Class B driving job, but the company turned out to be a disaster. He went for the mandatory driver test and the trucks were broke down. They said he had to take the test. He called several times and even went in person and got no reply.
They dragged their feet, never called back & he never took the mandatory test. They did not tell him he was hired, so he took another low pay temporary job in a factory to get by.
After he started working at the factory, they called our home # because he cant get calls at work, I only said he didnt know he had the job & I would have him call back the next day. That was all I said to the guy.
He called them as promised, and was very civil. In turn, they got nasty and said he refused the load & said guess you dont need a job & hung up on him.
How the hell do you know you have a job is nobody bothers to tell you? Glad he didnt go to work there.
You guys know what its like, you cant go from years as a trucker to being caged in a warehouse or factory.

Make about a dozen quick generic posts on any threads so that you meet the minimum post requirement. This will allow you to start using the Private Message feature. Then PM member Roadrealtor. The route he took with affiliation to Con-way Truckload is the way to go IMO. He will tell you straight.
