That is sage advice right there. Everyone needs to be worth what they charge or they will get their lunch eaten.

Bds4206, maybe thats what drivers need to start doing. Brokers have made deal with drivers at times for one rate, then call them back saying that the shipper canceled the load or some other crap like that. What ever sounds good at the time.. But many times, that is the broker who has found another company to haul it cheaper then you would so hes ex-ing you out to line his pocket even more.
So I figure if they do this to us, why not start doing that stuff to them (its been going on for years). I say go and contact the shipper behind them, negotiate and strike a new deal with a better price. It would help the shipper (by paying out less over all) and it would help "you" the driver (by getting a little bit more of what your in titled to, a decent rate, your magic numbers for starters). Have the shipper dial the broker to cancel their deal and its all done. The broker calls you about the cancelation, you put on your act, then hang up. (dont call that broker until youve completed 2runs... Thats if you have to call them at all.)... -
Oh, I have 60 numbers in my droid. Keep me loaded or loose me. You get paid by the call, I get paid by the mile. I have no favorites. I sell my body & truck. I'm a hiway lizard. If you can't do it, I will call someone who can. Nothing personal, I will call you in a week. Costs me 60.00 a day just to be here. Well a lot more really. I provide service, you provide freight, that's our agreement. When one fails we both loose.

What exactly are you "entitled" to? -
Most shippers use a broker because they either don't want to deal with all the phone calls from trucking companies or just don't have the resources to handle it. It's a lot easier for the shipper to email loads to a broker and let them deal with it.

Please, Im not hearing none of you guys talking that foolishness. (especially if your a broker, in fact dont even reply to me if you are). Brokers have trashed this industry in the worst possible way. They dont care about the driver or the product getting to where it belong or how, they just want a signature, they only care about their bottom line, profits. Even now, Im on another load right now, that an ### hole broker lied to get us working on, knew when it would unload but lied as always to move the load.. Now I am stuck waiting to deliver Monday which messed up a pickup for today (Sunday). Most of these morons dont know what theyre doing nor do they truly understand the details of the business, they just paid for the license. Most dont care about the driver at all, his time, health, added expenses, Fed. standards, fuel costs, layovers not to mention dealing with jerks at the warehouse and chicken copes... Some dont know, but they still care not to hear it or understand.
As far as entitled to, I meant it just like I said it! We do the work, we should get paid the bulk for it, not the same as or less then. While we're doing real man's work moving this freight, these clowns are playing on computers sitting on their ##### everyday lying to everybody causing us to work more then we need to, then they wanna steal the Lion's share of the cash or nickel & dime you (back charges and such). They are not entitled to more then or equal pay as the carrier or driver per load.
Its time to Unite and stop this foolishness, stop hauling cheap loads/freight, period! If you cant make a decent profit after payng your hauling expenses, DO NOT MOVE IT... Make them pay for irregular conditions or added time and any job inconveniences. Boycott warehouses that force drivers to pay lumper fees for the freight that THEY ###### ordered. Boycott warehouses that have outrageous lumper fees or long waiting times... O/O's must work together with everyone else when it comes to a boycott or a strike. One strike for 3-4days is all we need to fix this industry. Get the rates in order, straighten out these warehouses, shake up these states that harass truckers and target the industries, force every state to pass laws to allow commercial vehicles to park anywhere there is commercial property with out a hassle, discounts on food/lodging in every state/city/town, adjust the tax right offs properly for O/O and Company drivers to increase yearly take home which would also increase drivers purchasing power everywhere we go. The big news and bare shelves or a jam up in he flow of goods will force all to listen, it would make common folk respect what they dont realize right now, most dont put the two together, they dont realize everything they have in theyre lives are there because we make it easy for them to get it. We are responsible for it. We are the blood flow of this nation and should be treated with more respect and consideration.
Truckers Unite!!! -
We already have "strike" threads in this forum, this thread does NOT need to be one of them.

Just read this whole thread hoping to learn something about broker's tricks of the trade, of which I've certainly been a victim of each at one time or another whether I knew it or not. I didn't learn a #### thing!
