At the end of your 28 days, how do you get home? And then at end of being home for a few days, how do you get connected with your co-driver (who is a friend, and 9 days behind in training)?

The simple thing to do is call and ask. Maybe your codriver friend will be issued the truck when finished with their training. Or, they might have the two of you rent a car and recover a truck that was abandoned somewhere. Good luck with the two of you.

If you have a good trainer they will ask to be routed by your house or close it so they can drop you off. If not or if there not a load going near were you live then say hello to Grey Hound you then will sit at home making 0.00$ until your co driver is done with home time when his home time is almost done you need to contact your FM on where your picking up your trk at and how to get a rental car to get you to it.

How you get home depends...if you need to do a road test or talk to safety they will route you to a terminal. If not, it depends on how the freight is moving (not how good your trainer is). If they can route you close to home they will. If they can get you a ride on another truck going that way they will. If not then you are going home on Greyhound. Your FM takes care of all that.

Since you know who your co-driver will be, you will have to wait on him. Then they will find the two of you a truck and get you to it. Since you are both new they will not give one of you a truck to solo to the other. Let your FM know who your co-driver will be so they can get the ball rolling.

Two trainees in a truck together, thats a recipe for disaster! I found a guy that had one year experience and a good report with his dickscratcher. I made alot more money and learned alot more, alot quicker than my fellow graduates. After I sucked all the knowlege I could from the old fart I went on and got a co-driver I liked. Just some advise.
As far as getting you home that will more be tough. I see your in South Florida not much freight down there. Best bet would be to get close and Greyhound it from there.

Yeah, I took a Greyhound down here. Not sure where the original poster is from.

I found a co-driver. He's been with them 6 months. Supposedly they are routing him this way to come get me. He was in N Carolina. Now he's in Chicago.

Tomorrow is day 28 of training, ending up in Miami. They are now saying have to do a road test?? What is this about? Had CDL for 11 years now. Did 2 weeks training, then Orientation, right out for the 28 days, which ends tomorrow. Assumed was going home this weekend, but they have no idea what is goign to happen.

Trainer goes on home time this weekend, he lives in Miami. Will I end up dumped in that area until they decide if I can go home or have to do this road test?

Also, while tomorrow is day 28, load gets dropped tomorrow early am. Does this mean anything?

Generally they will let you test after hometime. Did you have an accident or incident? Is your lead driver a jerk? Some people get road tests randamly.

Yep they road test randomly unless you had a bunch of safety problems. 28 days is more of a guide than set in stone. I was on the truck a little longer. Just the way t worked out.
